Anointing of the Sick

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two. . . . So they went off and preached repentance. They drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. (Mark 6:7, 13)Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15)

The anointing of the sick is the sacrament by which the Church commends the faithful who are dangerously ill to the suffering and glorified Lord in order that he relieve and save them. Reception of the sacrament can be arranged by making an appointment at the parish office. Contact information can be found here. If someone is seriously ill, please contact the Parish Office at (212) 741-1274 or a hospital chaplain.
