Walking with Moms in Need
St Joseph’s is part of Walking with Moms in Need, a nationwide, parish-based initiative to increase support for pregnant and parenting mothers in need. It works to ensure that any woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, or parenting in difficult circumstances, can turn to her local Catholic Church and be connected with the resources she needs.
We have taken inventory of pregnancy resources available in our local area and have developed a parish-based response.

Walking with Moms in Need is a nationwide effort launched by the Sisters of Life almost 5 years ago. Its aim is to have a local/parish-based response to women who are pregnant or parenting in difficult circumstances.
We have created a flyer with a list of local pregnancy resources. They are currently available in the narthex and the Catholic Center at NYU. Our hope at St. Joseph's is to have everyone in the parish be aware of this new program, be able to refer or pass on needed information to a woman in need, pray for all pregnant women in difficult circumstances, and join the ministry.

ANYONE! This is NOT just for women or mothers.

If you're interested in becoming involved, please complete the form here and you will be added to the Flocknote group. There are several ways to become involved. The needs will vary from one referred woman to another. We may need help in different ways:
gather and/or donate maternity and baby supplies
help connect a woman to local resources (legal, medical, housing, food, education, etc)
volunteer directly with the Sisters of Life
pass on the brochure to people or places who may encounter pregnant women in need
collaborating and sharing ideas how we can continue to support pregnant and parenting women in need
invite others to join the initiative

As of now, there are no set meetings. We will likely try to meet at least quarterly to discuss updates, concerns, etc and as needed as we are connected with women who need assistance. Depending on where you can help, you may be contacted more or less frequently than others.
