fifth sunday of ordinary time
by Fr. Boniface, O.P.
Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
We have a wonderful parish initiative to announce: Journey with Joseph. Next Sunday we will begin a parish-wide consecration to St. Joseph, starting the Sunday after and running 33 days, culminating on the Solemnity of St. Joseph, March 19th. The Journey with Joseph will include:
•Daily meditations written by the friars here, one for each of the 33 days.
•Weekly video meditations.
•A booklet containing all the meditations, which we’ll give out next weekend.
•A daily prayer to St. Joseph for the Masses here and for people at home.
•Weekly small group meetings for people who want to go deeper.
•All the parish ministries will focus on St. Joseph for the 33 days.
•On the Solemnity of St. Joseph, we’ll have a special 7pm Mass with music from Higher Word and a special reception in the parish hall afterwards.
•A special consecration prayer for the Solemnity of St. Joseph.
On the Solemnity of St. Joseph, we’ll have a 7pm Mass here where we’ll pray together the final prayer of consecration and have an event in the parish hall afterward. The music at that Mass will be from Higher Word and their incredible music program, so it will be beautiful.
If you’re wondering what a parish consecration is, don’t worry! That’s the topic of the 1st meditation, so get the booklet next Sunday and check it out for the answer.
Also, a benefactor from Rome has given the parish a large number of relics. We’ve had a reliquary constructed to hold them and we’ll put it in the church so people can venerate the relics. During the 33-day consecration we’ll highlight saints whose relics we have who also had a great devotion to St. Joseph.
God bless,
Fr. Boniface
