Divine Mercy Sunday

by Fr. Boniface Endorf, OP

Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,

As you know by now, our Holy Father Pope Francis has died. Please keep him in your prayers. This Monday, April 28th, at the 12:10pm daily mass we will celebrate a requiem Mass for Pope Francis. Please also pray for the Church during this time of transition, and for the Cardinals who will elect the new pope at the upcoming conclave.

Our hope is always founded on God’s Mercy, which we celebrate especially today on Divine Mercy Sunday. We should never try to stand before God in strict justice, but always ask Him for mercy: He displays His Goodness and Love towards us through His Mercy, shown most powerfully through Christ’s death and resurrection.

A wonderful way to reconnect with God’s mercy is through confession if you haven’t been in a while (we have daily confessions at the parish), or by spending time in our Divine Mercy Adoration chapel. Come encounter Christ and His love for you!

Finally, next Friday our Spring Thomistic Institute talks begin. We’ll have a series of three talks, three Fridays in a row, starting with Dr. Paul LaPenna giving a talk entitled: “The Neuroscience of Vice and Virtue.” It should be a fascinating talk and I encourage everyone to join us this Friday at 7pm in McGuire Hall.

Have a blessed Easter Season!
Fr. Boniface
