Holy Trinity Sunday
by Fr. Boniface Endorf, OP
Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
I pray that all the fathers at St. Joseph's will have a blessed Father’s Day! Our patron, St. Joseph, is the model father and we have a special connection to him! May all our fathers be models of God the Father’s love, as exemplified in St. Joseph.
This Friday, 6/20, St. Joseph’s will host our next NightFire event. The church will be open 8pm-11pm, candlelit, with music and adoration, as well as confessions. Parishioner volunteers will invite pedestrians in front of the church to come in and light a candle for a loved one and to join us in prayer. Everyone’s invited, so come and join this wonderful event.
St. Joseph’s has had a lot of great press over the past few years. Catholic media, including Vatican News, ran many stories on the adoration chapel. In fact, we often get visitors from all over the world who come to see our adoration chapel! This month, The Free Press included St. Joseph’s in a story entitled “How Catholicism Got Cool: Young Americans and people around the are flocking to the Catholic Church.” It includes pictures from our Easter Vigil and you can check out the story on their website.
One last note—we’re starting a new initiative to help our outreach to those on the streets of Greenwich Village. Every Friday St. Joseph's Street Outreach ministry has around 25 volunteers go throughout the greater Greenwich Village area to engage in conversations and bring small donations to individuals they meet on the street. Everyone they encounter is in special need of prayers and so we are extending the ministry to get the whole parish involved by creating "Prayer Partners" for each of our outreach routes. Please scan the QR code in the bulletin or check the website for more information on how to get involved!
Have a blessed summer!
Fr. Boniface
