7th Sunday of Easter

by Fr. Boniface Endorf, OP

Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,

This week St. Joseph’s will become a Franciscan parish. Sort of. Every decade or so our Province of Dominicans has an assembly where all the friars come together, and this week we have our next assembly. So all the friars at St. Joesph’s will be in DC Monday through Thursday. But, of course, the parish won’t shut down. Frs. Francis and Ignatius, CFR Franciscans, will be here to celebrate Mass and hear confessions this Monday through Thursday.

I’m excited that our very own parishioner, Benjamin Pawlak, a Juilliard graduate and Assistant Keyboardist with the New York Philharmonic, will be offering a piano recital here at St. Joseph’s as a fundraiser for our boiler fund. It will take place on Tuesday, June 10th at 7:15 PM in the church, with a light reception to follow in McGuire Hall. If you want to purchase a ticket or would like more information, please see the bulletin, website, or flyer in the narthex.

At Pentecost, Jesus fulfills His promise to send the Holy Spirit. We should meditate on the purifying and transformative fire that the Lord wants to enkindle in us and in the Church—the very presence of His Spirit that guides, comforts, and empowers us to continue Christ's mission in the world. A great way to do so is to attend our parish Pentecost retreat on Saturday, June 14th here in the church. The day will begin at 8:30 AM with coffee and breakfast in McGuire Hall. The day will consist of guided meditations, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, praise and worship, and conclude with Mass here at 12:10 and a gathering with refreshments in McGuire Hall. If you would like to attend, please RSVP through this link.

Have a blessed Easter Season!
Fr. Boniface
