Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time
by Fr. Jonah, O.P.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
First, a word of sincere and profound gratitude to Fr. Boniface as he prepares to leave St. Joseph’s and begin his new assignment as vicar provincial for our Dominican Province of St. Joseph. The parish itself, both the beautifully maintained and ornamented church and the thriving community, is the strongest testimony to his work as pastor here these past eight years. We will be planning a special celebration for him in the near future; details to come soon.
Next, a word of welcome to Fr. Basil Burroughs as he begins here as a parochial vicar alongside Fr. Jacek. Please make a point of introducing yourselves to him and welcoming him to St. Joseph’s.
Finally, and on a totally different note, here’s an odd bit of trivia about your new pastor: I’m in a band, The Hillbilly Thomists, and we’re going on tour at the end of this month. Come see us in concert on either July 25 or 26 uptown in the church hall at St. Vincent Ferrer’s (their parish hall holds more people than ours; that’s why it’s happening there, not here).
You can get tickets at https://www.hillbillythomists.com/tour
Please know of my prayers for all of you.
In Christ,
Fr. Jonah, O.P.
