Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
Fr. Jonah here, filling in for Fr. Boniface while he’s away.
On Friday we celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This feast makes me think of one of my favorite passages from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Paragraph 478 says, “Jesus knew and loved us each and all during his life, his agony, and his Passion and gave himself up for each one of us: ‘The Son of God … loved me and gave himself for me’ [Gal 2:20]. He has loved us all with a human heart. For this reason, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pierced by our sins and for our salvation, ‘is quite rightly considered the chief sign and symbol of that … love with which the divine Redeemer continually loves the eternal Father and all human beings’ without exception [see Pius XII, encyclical, Haurietis aquas].”
It is so important to ponder the love God has for us. A great place to do that is in our Divine Mercy Adoration Chapel. I encourage you to sign up for a keycard and to commit to an hour a week in prayer with Our Lord!
Peace,
Fr. Jonah, O.P.
